Elon Musk launched Starlink's internet services in Indonesia on Sunday, aiming to enhance connectivity across the vast archipelago.
The inauguration occurred at a community health center in Bali, with Musk, sporting a green batik outfit, expressing enthusiasm about extending Starlink to remote Indonesian villages lacking adequate connectivity. He emphasized the potential life-saving impact, especially for patients in need of medical care.

Indonesia anticipates that Starlink will not only link distant provinces but also elevate educational and healthcare standards, according to Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Panjaitan. Following the recent licensing approval, Starlink, known for delivering broadband via SpaceX's satellites, is now authorized to operate in the country.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo has actively sought Musk's involvement to solidify Indonesia as an attractive destination for foreign investments. Musk hinted at possible future investments from his other ventures in Indonesia during the Bali event, although specifics were not disclosed.
While Jokowi was initially expected to attend the Starlink inauguration, he was notably absent. Discussions with Tesla Inc. to potentially invest in Indonesia's growing battery sector persist, despite challenges in the electric vehicle market. Starlink is also gearing up to trial its services in Nusantara, Indonesia's upcoming capital city slated for inauguration by August.
